Gillian Triggs encourages you to speak up!

Gillian TriggsGillian Triggs’ memoir Speaking Up was published after her time in the public spotlight as president of the Australian Human Rights Commission. In this role, Gillian advocated for the disempowered, the disenfranchised and the marginalised. She withstood relentless political pressure and media scrutiny as she defended the defenceless for five tumultuous years.

At the 2019 SBWN Gala Event, Gillian will talk about the values that have guided her convictions and the causes she has championed. She will dare women to speak up fearlessly and men to move beyond their comfort zones to achieve equity for all.

And if we’re lucky, Gillian may let us know she responded when appreciative passengers on a full airplane departing Canberra greeted her with a round of applause!
