OUR JULY EVENT

Guest Speaker - Melina Bath

From Fish Creek to Spring Street...

Melina Bath grew up in Fish Creek, South Gippsland, the daughter of a dairy farmer her family were pioneers in the area.

A love of politics is a family trait with Melina’s great, great, great grandfather, Richard Richardson, serving as a conservative Member for Creswick in the late 1800s and both her parents Stan and Maree being long-time National Party stalwarts.

Melina attended Foster and District Secondary College and later took her love for learning and interest in the scientific world on to the University of Melbourne, where she completed a Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in chemistry, botany and zoology. She then studied a Diploma in Education. During this time she joined the Melbourne Branch of the Young Nationals and attended meetings, forums and social events.

She travelled overseas before returning home to South Gippsland to support her terminally ill father. Married and settled in Leongatha she realised an opportunity to reinvigorate the town’s health food business. Melina owned the company for 12 years in partnership with family members.

The proud parent of two boys Melina was actively involved in the Leongatha Soccer Club and was secretary for almost 10 years.

Eight years ago Melina returned to her chosen career of secondary teaching and has taught at Mirboo North Secondary College where she was the head of Mathematics.

Her years of study, travel, owning and running her own small business, growing a family, and educating young minds have given Melina the skills, determination and passion to direct her energy into the future prosperity of the Eastern Victorian region

Not afraid of hard work she is determined to help build on The Nationals proud history of commitment to country Victorians.

Well supported by her partner Gary, Melina is eager to support the Nationals team, to build a strong future for the party and the Eastern Victoria Region.
